EATON — A police pursuit sent Preble County Sheriff deputies and Eaton Police Division officers on a chase through Eaton on Friday, July 17.

The pursuit started in Richmond, Indiana eventually making its way into Eaton around 6:25.p.m. according to Sheriff Mike Simpson.

Simpson said the chase started when officers from Wayne County (Indiana) attempted to stop a vehicle which had been reported stolen from the parking lot at McDonald’s in Richmond.

The vehicle led Wayne County Sheriff Deputies on a chase down Ohio 122, according to a press release issued by Simpson, causing PCSO and EPD members to need to assist Wayne County deputies. Eventually the driver stopped the vehicle in the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of Monfort Street in Eaton, and fled from the vehicle on foot.

Deputies soon located Danielle M. Webb, 24, of College Corner, who had been the passenger in the vehicle, on Mechanic Street. Webb became uncooperative and was later arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Despite efforts from K-9 units from both Preble County and Butler County, officers on the scene were unable to locate the male driver of the vehicle, Simpson said.

The following day, Saturday, July 18, the Eaton Police Division investigated a report of a stolen car from Speedway in Eaton, according to Simpson. The vehicle was identified in Richmond and was later involved in a crash. The driver of the vehicle was found to be the same individual from the pursuit a night prior and was placed under arrest.

Simpson continued by saying deputies investigated a home burglary on Sunday, July 19, that occurred sometime between Thursday, July 16, and Sunday, July 19. They determined property found in the vehicle from Friday’s pursuit belonged to the resident in the 2000 block of Somerville-West Elkton Road.

The driver of the vehicle was Brandon Watson. He was charged with burglary, a second degree felony, theft, a fifth degree felony; receiving stolen property, a fifth degree felony and receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony.

Webb was charged with complicity as it relates to burglary, a third degree felony; complicity as it relates to theft, a fifth degree felony; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a first degree misdemeanor and receiving stolen property, a fifth degree felony.

Simpson said Watson is currently being held in Wayne County Jail while Webb was being held in Preble County Jail at press time.
