TVRGC Turkey Shoot and Youth Pheasant Hunt

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Turkey Shoot at 1 p.m. each Sunday through the end of November. The public is welcome, and there is a lunch stand in the clubhouse.

There will be a youth pheasant hunt at Ulrich’s Hunting Preserve, 4964 Enterprise Road, Saturday, Oct. 15. There will be two seasons: 9 a.m.-noon. and 1-4 p.m. with complimentary Lunch at noon for both sessions. Hunt is open to youth 12-17 years of age who have completed a Hunter Education Course. Proof of Certification is required. The hunt is free but limited to 20 participants with two rooster pheasants per hunter. Contact H.K. Beggars’ Night

West Alexandria Trick or Treat will be Monday, Oct. 31, from 6- 7:30 p.m. There will be a costume parade starting at the LCNB bank, 55 E. Dayton Street, at 5:15p.m.. A costume contest, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club will begin at 5:30 p.m. across from the Town Hall. There are prizes for children twelve and under, divided into three age groups and three categories.

Foodbank

Items needed are mac & cheese, pork & beans, pancake mix, syrup, shampoo and toothpaste. The Foodbank is open from 10a.m. to 12p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at St. John Lutheran Ingomar and Salem Lutheran Church on the first Sunday of each month.

Church of the Brethren

St. John Church

St. John’s Annual Golf Outing is Oct. 9, starting at 1 p.m.

We will provide a supper to the Homeless Shelter on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.

Salem Lutheran Church

The Jr. Lutherans program begins Wednesday, Oct. 5, with a meal at 6 p.m. and program from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Children in Preschool through sixth grade are welcome to be a part of our Jr. Lutheran program. See you soon!

Junior Choir meets upstairs on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m.

The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study will meet Sat. Oct. 15 in the Fellowship Hall.

A Chili Cook-off Fundraiser Luncheon will take place after morning worship on Sunday, October 16 to raise funds for the LYO Sr. Citizens Breakfast BINGO.

LYO will attend their third annual King’s Island Fear Fest Oct. 30. Meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. Cost of $20 includes an all-you-can-eat meal. An emergency medical form is required.

The S.O.S. group will attend Busy Beaver Craft Store on Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. for making glass Christmas ornaments. Contact Diana Wall at 839-5326 or email [email protected].

The women of the church are collecting bars of soap for Lutheran World Relief.

Sept. 26, the LYO will provide a meal for the Homeless Shelter in Eaton.

Coups for Troops collects unwanted grocery coupons, up to two months expired, for troops overseas to use in the Commissaries. There is a basket located in the Church Library.

St. John Lutheran Church Ingomar

St. John Lutheran Women of the ELCA is sponsoring a Guest Night Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The program will be presented by Courtney Griffin and Jenna Hall from the Preble Co. Battered Women’s Shelter. The evening will begin with a salad and dessert buffet. All women are invited and encouraged to attend. Please RSVP to Jan Spitler by Oct. 8 at 839-4078.

Trunk or Treat will take place Sunday, Oct. 23, from 1:30-3 pm. at St. John Lutheran, Ingomar.

A free CPR, First Aide, AED course will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. If you would like certification, there is a fee of $15. St. John Lutheran will supply a lunch during break. The course is being taught by Firefighter Safe. The course is limited to 100 participants. Call the church office at 839-5321 or email [email protected] with your contact information by Oct. 16.

St. John, Ingomar, continues their Sleep Mat Project, using your donated grocery bags that are cut into strips and woven into sleeping mats for homeless shelters and charitable organizations. Some 112 mats have been completed and donated as of Aug. 31. For more information, contact Linda Kottke.
