Auditor reports August revenue over estimates

EATON —Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright recently released her monthly report for August.

During the month of August, the county’s General Fund receipts totaled $1,760,393.61, 4.55 percent above the estimate for the month.

Sales tax revenue for August totaled $489,461.28 from June sales, according to Wright, who reported the Local Government Fund had come in at $29,899.37, charges for services at $198,044.64,interest at $16,209.92, fines and forfeitures at $2,476.15, and other receipts at $93,331.36.

The 1-mill conveyance receipts totaled $9,852.60 with no expenditures for the month, according to Wright.

Expenditures

August General Fund disbursements totaled $787,427.46, according to Wright, who said this was 10.52 percent above the estimate for the month.

Salaries, Public Employee Retirement System and Medicare disbursements for August were $428,865.31. Health insurance premiums were billed and paid in the amount of $81,758.14.

Transfers for the month included $ 13,902.60 to GIS, and $14,500to the Preble County Engineer.

Department expenditures were $243,900.03 and included supplies ($25,617.29), equipment ($7,799.99), charges for services ($198,806.36), gasoline ($4,399.75) travel, advertising/printing, and other expenses.

Year-to-date

According to Wright, the county’s General Fund began 2016 with a cash balance of $3,800,775.40 and ended the month of August with $4,775,641.06.

General Fund receipts for August 2016 were above what they were in 2015 by 4.39 percent, Wright said.

Charges for services were 1.40 percent under; sales tax showed a 3.12 percent increase; LGF was down 4.07 percent; fines and forfeitures were down 12.53 percent; and interest came in at $16,209.92 for the month.

The next casino tax collection will be this month, according to Wright.

Expenditures for August 2016 were up over 2015 by 7.41 percent, according to Wright, who reported salaries, PERS, and Medicare were down 5.26 percent, while department expenditures were up 32.20 percent or $59,409.46.
