Road closing

Beginning Monday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 a.m., Concord Road will be closed between Ohio 732 and Winters Road for approximately three weeks for a full bridge replacement. This will be closed to all traffic.

Robin Hood production

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will be bringing its production of Robin Hood by Greg Banks to Oxford’s Community Art Center Sunday, Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. Playhouse in the Park is a regional theater in downtown Cincinnati that has been in operation for 56 years. The Playhouse “strives to celebrate the live theatrical experience in superlative fashion, in a setting that is second to none.” This production is part of OCAC’s Family Performance Series, in which all shows are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the Miami University Performing Arts Series and made possible with grant support from ArtsWave and the Ohio Arts Council. This performance is a collaboration with the Oxford Lane Library.

Benefit quarter auction

A quarter auction planned for Saturday, Oct. 22, from 2-4 p.m., at the Eaton First Church of God, 601 E. Lexington Road, Eaton, will benefit special needs students in Preble County. Bidding paddles will be sold for $3 each. There will also be a $2/ticket raffle for a custom varsity jacket sponsored by First Impression Wear and Reed’s Pharmacy. Refreshments will be available. Proceeds of the event will go toward purchasing therapy items and communication devices. For additional information, call 937-687-6172.

Color Run 5k

Miami Medlife and the Oxford Free Clinic are sponsoring a Color Run 5K on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 9 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Oxford College Corner Clinic and the Medlife Project Fund. Visit http://medlifemiami5k.weebly.com to sign up.

PCESC meeting change

The October regular meeting of the Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 5:30 p.m. has been changed to Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Preble County Educational Service Center conference room, 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton.

MVCTC conferences Nov. 3

The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) has scheduled the 2016-2017 Parent Teacher Conferences for Thursday, Nov. 3, from 3-7 p.m. Parents are asked to contact their child’s instructors to set-up a conference at a time that is convenient for them. Leaf Kabobs, What’s That?

On Saturday, Nov. 5, from 1-3 p.m., the Garber Nature Center will host “Leaf Kabobs, What’s That?” Participants will be collecting leaves of various kinds and placing them on small twigs, doing leaf rubbings, and sharing the book, Leaf Man, by Lois Ehlert. Find out what is taking place in the tree at this time of year. Help build the living tree and discover what each part of a tree is and does. Everyone is welcome to run and jump in the leaves at any age. Participants should dress for the weather and meet in the Mary Hayes Pavilion at Garber Nature Center, 9691 Ohio 503 North, Lewisburg. The program is free with donations welcomed.

Craft Bazaar

The Senior Center’s annual craft bazaar is Friday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Preble County Council on Aging in Eaton. Organizers are looking for craft vendors to set up during this bazaar. Contact Stacey at [email protected] or 937-456-4947, ext. 215.
