PREBLE COUNTY — After four weeks of competition, the junior high quiz team season recently came to a close.
At each quiz team match, students were asked questions in areas such as: Language Arts, American Government, Math, Fine Arts, Science, Geography, World History, US History, and General Knowledge. The junior high quiz team is designed to challenge students intellectually and build a desire to learn and prepare for competition at the high school level.
Teams from seven area schools faced off for a final intellectual battle Nov. 7 at Eaton Middle School. Participating schools were: Arcanum, Bethel, Dixie, Eaton, National Trail, Tri-County North, and Twin Valley South. All teams had a successful experience of learning followed by a pizza party and fellowship, according to organizers.
Organizers thank thank the coaches of each team for all their hard work, encouragement, and cooperation: Andrea Painting (Arcanum), Mark Clute (Bethel), Kristin Elix (Dixie), Catherine Borucki (Eaton), Jeff Wassom (NT), Jim Conway (TCN), and Adrienne Brooks (TVS). Thank yous also go out to Eaton Middle School for hosting the face off match, and a special thank you to the parents of the students for their encouragement and support of each child’s learning through this activity.
This event was coordinated by Daryl Michael and Kathy Erbaugh of the Preble County Educational Service Center and sponsored by the Preble County ESC and the Preble County ESC Governing Board.
