Zip line challenge

The public is invited to join in and take the Zip Line Challenge at PVM Family Camp, 1259 Swann Beatty Rd., Camden, on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. This “ultimate” challenge is a fundraiser to raise money to build an “All Kids” cabin at PVM which will allow autistic and wheel-chair bound children experience camp. Take the “Leap of Faith” and zip line down the 500-foot drop on th e80-acre campus which is 10 minutes away from Oxford and Eaton. All who take the challenge are asked to make a $10 or more donation to help build the “All Kids” cabin.

BOE meeting

The Preble County Board of Elections will conduct a regular business meeting on Monday, Nov. 21, at 1:30 p.m. prior to the Nov. 8, General Election Official Canvass. The meeting will be held in the board’s office at 101 E. Main St., Eaton.

Eaton Area Community Choir

The Eaton Area Community Choir will perform at the Eaton United Church of Christ on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. EUCC is located at 113 W. Decatur Street.

Bell ringers sought

The Oxford Kiwanis Club is again organizing the Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Krogers. They will begin the day after Thanksgiving, and continue every Monday, Friday, and Saturday until Christmas Eve . The hours are Mondaym 4-8 p.m., Friday, 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All the funds collected go to organizations in Oxford which help those in need. Anyone can volunteer to ring for an hour or more by visiting the Oxford Kiwanis website and clicking on the “Red Kettle.”

Road closing

Beginning Nov. 7, at 7:30 a.m., Crawfordsville-Campbellstown Road will be closed between Westville Road and State Line Road for approximately three weeks for a full bridge replacement. This closure will begin at Box No. 9400 and end at Box No. 9178. This will be closed to all traffic.

Delinquent mobile home taxes

Preble County Treasurer Brenda White has notified all Preble County taxpayers, in accordance with section 5721.03 of the Ohio Revised Code, a list of current year delinquent mobile home owners will be published in The Register-Herald. The list will be published the weeks of Nov. 14 and Nov. 21. To avoid publication, a taxpayer must pay delinquent taxes or enter into a written payment plan contract with the county treasurer before 48 hours prior to publication. To avoid any additional interest and penalty charges, taxpayers may pay delinquent taxes or may enter into a written payment plan before Dec. 1. Anyone having questions can can call the treasurer’s office at 937-456-8140.

Wrestling fundraiser

On Saturday, Nov. 19, there will be a special wrestling fundraiser in Gratis to benefit Joseph Devaughn of Somerville, who is in need of a kidney transplant. He has a donor but must raise funds for his portion of the cost of the surgery. The event will be held at the Camden-Somers Fire Department at 1 p.m. Tuff Pro Wrestling of Franklin is providing the entertainment. Call 513-594-4582 for addditional information.

Thanksgiving story hour

Gratis Public Library will hold Thanksgiving Story Hour on Monday, Nov. 21, from 6-7 p.m. There will be stories, crafts, snacks and games.

WiBN Koffee Talk

The next WiBN (Women in Business Networking) Koffee Talk in Preble County is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2, 8-9:30 a.m. These free events are held once a month in the Community Room at Robert L Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens. Speaker for December will be Stephanie Price, on the topic “One Word Can Change Your Life.”

TCN senior citizen luncheon

Tri-County North School will hold the annual Senior Citizen Holiday Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 2, at 12:30 p.m., in the Tri-County North High/Middle School cafeteria. The luncheon is hosted by the Tri-County North Local School District and supported by the Lewisburg Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon will be served by TCN cafeteria staff and FFA students. Entertainment will be provided by the music department. All senior citizens in the district are invited to attend. There is no charge. PCHS Christmas Dinner Gathering

The Preble County Historical Society will hose the annual Christmas Dinner Gathering on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3. The evenings will begin at 6 p.m. with music and appetizers in the Lewisburg Log House. There will be a silent auction in the Sayler-Swartsel House. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Menu will consits of spinach salad with pears, pomegranates and caramelized pecans; apple cider infused pork loin, roast beef, green beans, cheesy red potatoes, white cake with raspberry filling and white chocolate frosting, whit chocolate cupcakes with Bailey’s chocolate mousse. Cost is $55 for members, $65 for non-members. RSVP by calling 937-787-4256.

Preble County Christmas tour of homes

The Preble County Habitat for Humanity and the Lewisburg Community Association are planning the Christmas Tour of Homes in the the county for Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1-6 p.m. There is one home in West Alexandria, three in Eaton, and one in Lewisburg slated for the tour. There are also two businesses to be featured. Homes include those of Debbie Chasteen, Marlene Frantz, Gary & Patty Wagner, Brenda Ross and Emily Ray. Suggs Family Orchard and Market will also be featured.

National Trail meeting

The November and December regular board meetings scheduled by the Board of Education of the National Trail Local School District have been combined and rescheduled to Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the National Trail School K-12 facility.

Breakfast with Santa

PVM Family Camp will sponsor a Breakfast with Santa event on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All guests will have a pancake breakfast participate in activities, wagon ride and local crafters. Tickets are $5 each and go toward the building of the All Kids cabin with handicap accessible lodging. Call 937-452-3347, extension 1. Family Camp is located at 1259 Swann Beatty Road, Camden.

GM/Delphi retirees

All General Motors/Delphi retirees are welcome to attend a monthly retirees breakfast at 8 a.m., at the Dixie Diner, 595 W. Main St., New Lebanon, the second Wednesday of each month.
