Christmas in the Village Craft Bazaar

Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. the WA Celebration Committee will hold its annual Christmas in the Village Craft Bazaar at the Third Street Gymnasium.

Sunday, Dec. 3, from 4-7 p.m. the WA Celebration Committee is sponsoring their annual Christmas in the Village. Visit area businesses, enjoy the lighted parade, Santa Claus and the many door prizes! The West Alexandria Celebration Committee raises funds to supply fireworks for July 4, as well as new toys for Santa Villa each year.

Santa Villa

Santa will be visiting with children and handing out gifts at Santa Villa on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10 and 11, from 5-7 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 17, from 2-4 p.m. the WA Celebration Committee will be holding the Holiday Treat Shop at Santa Villa. The West Alexandria Celebration Committee raises funds to supply new toys for Santa Villa each year.

AKS Nut Sale

Once again, Alpha Kappa Sorority of West Alexandria is offering fresh nuts for baking from their Annual Nut Sale.

Nuts have been delivered and we are ready to fill your orders for the holidays and baking!!

All bags are vacuum-sealed and yellow-tinted to retain freshness. They are 1 pound bags and sell for $9.50 each.

We have salted whole almonds, English walnuts, salted whole cashews, pecan pieces and pecan halves.

St. John Ingomar

Thanksgiving Eve worship service is Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. The theme is “Ever-thankful Hearts.”

Advent services begin Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Prior to the services are carry-in meals which begin at 6:15 p.m.

Themes for the services are: Nov. 30 – Blue Christmas, Dec. 7 — Lessons and Carols, Dec. 14 — Lessons and Carols, Dec. 21 — Holden Evening Prayer. We hope you will join us!

Salem Lutheran Church

On Dec. 4 during Worship Services, Salem welcomes Pastoral Candidate Dan Mershon.

Food collection for Wernle Children’s Home has begun! Purchase items such as gallon-sized cans while you’re doing your regular grocery shopping, and bring them to the front of the church. All food collected will be given to Wernle at the Christmas party on Dec. 4.

The Wernle Children’s Christmas Party will be Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Families from Salem Lutheran will provide a carry-in meal and gifts for the children they’ve sponsored, as well as providing entertainment for the evening. A collection of non-perishable food goods will be given to the Wernle Children’s Home following the dinner. Those still interested in sponsoring a child from Wernle are to contact Mark or Vickie Unger at 839-4586.

Christmas Poinsettias are available to order in the church Library. Cost is $6 for a 6” pot with 4-6 large, red blooms wrapped in foil. Indicate if your flower will be in someone’s honor or memory. Final day to order poinsettias is Dec. 4.

The Children’s Christmas Program will be presented on Dec. 11 at 10:30 a.m. by the LCO. Rehearsals to be announced.

The Jr. Lutherans program meets Wednesdays with a meal at 6 p.m. and program from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Children in Preschool through sixth grade are welcome to be a part of our Jr. Lutheran program.

New Salem Church Cookbooks are for sale in the church Library for $10 each. These would make a welcomed Christmas gift!

Salem’s Haiti Mission Trip is in need of your help. We have possibly 12 people going to be of service there. Cost to each person is $1,350 and we are trying to collect an additional $500 for beans and rice to give to families there. You, too, can be a part of this mission outreach with your donations and support. Checks should be made out to Salem Lutheran Church and by writing Haiti in the memo section of your check. Coups for Troops collects unwanted grocery coupons, up to two months expired, for troops overseas to use in the Commissaries. There is a basket located in the Church Library.
