Conservation Day Camp counselors, campers needed

PREBLE COUNTY — The Preble Soil & Water Conservation District will once again be holding Conservation Day Camp this summer from June 27-29.

The event will be held at the Preble County Historical Farm and is open to students in the county who are completing second through fifth grades. Three days of fun and outdoor exploration are planned, including activities such as archery, stream exploration, nature hikes, learning about edible wild plants, geocaching, candle dipping at the log house, and building birdhouses.

A Cargill Cares grant has provided generous funding towards the cost of camp, allowing registration to be set at just $20 per camper. This includes a t-shirt, lunch each day, and all program materials. Middle and high school students are needed to serve as counselors and counselors-in-training. Applications and information for both counselors and campers is available on our website at www.prebleswcd.org.

The application deadline is April 28 for counselors and May 12 for campers, but both will be accepted until positions are filled. Space may fill up, so those interested in attending are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Call the SWCD office at 456-5159 with questions.
