Party on the Bridge

The public is invited to the Preble County Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours for September, Thursday, Sept. 24, from 4-7 p.m., at Roberts Covered Bridge, South Beech Street in Eaton. Hosted by the Preble County Convention & Visitors Bureau, this “Party on the Bridge” will highlight the accomplishments of the PCCVB and present plans for promoting Preble County’s collection of covered bridges in 2016. Light refreshments will be served.

Fall Gathering at PCHS

Preble County Historical Society will again host its Fall Gathering on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Historical Center located on Swartsel Road off Ohio 122, between Eaton and Gratis. The Preble County Historical Society welcomes history reenactors to the Fall Gathering and the public is invited Come and watch the historic reenactments and enjoy the smells of food cooking over campfires. There will be activities for children, food, demonstrations and presentations. Mark and Angie Zdobinski will hold a presentation on The Olde Schoolhouse Vineyard and Winery. This event is free and open to the public.

Jacob’s Ladder

Jacobs Ladder volunteers’ pack dates for the year include: Sept. 30; Oct. 28, Dec. 2, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 2, April 6 and May 4.

Road closing

Beginning Aug. 31, at 7:30 a.m., Concord Road will be closed between Wyatt Road and Concord Fairhaven Road for approximately nine weeks for a full bridge replacement. This closure will begin at Box # 6323 and end at Box # 6777. This will be closed to all traffic. Stay updated on this closure at www.prebeng.org.

Kiwanis Oktoberfest

The Kiwanis of West Alexandria will be hosting the West Alexandria Oktoberfest again this year on Saturday, Oct. 10. Many of the same vendors and exhibits will be back, with also some new ones. The opening parade starts at 11 a.m. and Carrieann Marit, one of the meteorologists at WHIO-TV in Dayton, will be the grand marshal.

Carrieann serves as the weather team leader, over-sees daily operations and manages larger weather projects within the company. She also delivers weather reports on several local radio stations. She is a graduate of Twin Valley South High School and lives with her husband and two young sons in Preble County.

Camden Craft Club Breakfast

Every third Saturday from 7-11 a.m., there will be an “all-you-can-eat” breakfast in the Camden Masonic Dining Room (above the Camden library). The meal will consist of sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, apples, potato casserole, orange juice, and coffee. The meal will cost $6 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. A chairlift is available on location to help attendees reach the second floor.

PCSWD meetings

Third Wednesday of each Month- The Preble Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors conducts monthly board meetings at 7 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Preble SWCD Office, 1651 N. Barron St., Eaton. Meeting dates for 2015 will be: Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16.

PCDL meetings

The Preble County District Library Board of Trustees 2015 meeting dates are as follows: Sept. 28, Oct. 26 and Nov. 23. All meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. at the PCDL Administration Office, located at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

TCN meetings

The Tri-County North Board of Education has announced that the regular board meetings for 2015 will be at 7:30 p.m. each month in the Tri-County North Lecture Room. The meeting dates are as follows: Oct. 19, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21.

Twin Township meetings

The Board of Twin Township Trustees will have their regular monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. The meetings will be at 1251 Ohio 503 North in West Alexandria at 6 p.m. Notices of any special, emergency or executive meetings will be posted at the Township House on the bulletin board at the front of the building. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.

Drug recovery

The 7-Pillars Drug Recovery Program will meet at 7 p.m. each Monday night at 705 N. Barron Street in Eaton. For more information, call 1-801-SET-FREE.

Parkinson’s Support Group

A new Parkinson’s Support group is being created, and meetings will be held the third Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Eaton Senior Center, 800 E. St. Clair Street. Contact Jim Straszheim, 937-456-6352 or 937-456-4947 for additional information.
