Tween Filmmakers Club
Are you interested in the world of stop-motion animation and filmmaking? Children age 8-12 will have the opportunity to work on a collaborative movie in a four-week club at the Eaton Branch of PCDL. In the club, the group will write, create, and film a movie as a group. At the final week, parents and families of the children will be invited for a viewing party, and each participant will receive a DVD of the completed film. The schedule of sessions is:
Thursday, Aug. 14 from 4:45-6:15 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 21 from 4:45-6:15 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 28 from 4:45-6:15 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 4 from 4:45-5:30 p.m.
Light snacks will be provided at each session. Registration is required for the club. Register by calling the branch at 937-456-4331 or sign up in person at the Eaton Branch circulation desk. Please only register if you are able to attend all four sessions, as each session builds upon the previous sessions, and there are limited spots available.
New genealogy database
Preble County historians now have a brand new genealogy database with which to research local records over the internet. Although still in its testing phase with new records being added every day, the Preble County Genealogy Database will thrill anyone researching family history. If you’re looking for crystal clear (and easily manipulated) images, broader subject matter (such as records for historic homes and Sexton Reports), and obituaries and marriage records, try out the new database at www.preblelibrary.com. Please also continue to use the ‘Preble County Historical Marriage and Obituary Records’ database, as not all records have been moved to the new database.
