PREBLE COUNTY — Twenty people are moving onto the semi-final round of the Preble County Idol competition after the regional competition held Saturday, July 19, at The Amphitheater at the Preble County Historical Center.

Judges were Terri Shaffer, Gene Webb and Janett Wilges. Paula Stout, the winner of the first PC Idol in 2008, was the emcee.

Shaffer said there were some people who auditioned that day who weren’t even planning on auditioning.

“We’ve got more talent this year than we’ve had in a long time,” Shaffer said.

Some 23 people total auditioned for PC Idol. Some were first-time participants and some had participated in past years. The semi-final round will eliminate 10 people and 10 will advance to the final round.

During the final round, there will be first, second and third place winners. The first place winner will receive a $500 prize.

The top 20 contestants are Megan Somers, Jose Trejo, Christina Raby, Lindsey Roberts, Madison Stone, Vanessa Howe, Dani Eshleman, Charles McNew, Cody Stewart, Christine Rice, Ciara Flory, Jordan Rogers, Joe Melke, Cassie Sandlin, Marq Musiq, Lee Ann Mathews and Sheila Claggett.

The semi-final round will take place at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 28 and the final round will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2. Both rounds will take place at the Preble County Fairgrounds.
