American Legion

The West Alexandria Sons of the American Legion Post #322 will have a Ladies Night and Euchre at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29. On Oct. 30, there will be senior fun day from 1 to 4 p.m.


On Nov. 11, at noon, Post 665 will raffle a Henry 22 Long rifle at the Veteran Services Office located at 108 N. Barron St., Eaton. Tickets are $5 each. For ticket information, contact Gary Norris at 937-572-3363.

American Legion

The American Legion Post 215 has released their October schedule. Every Wednesday there is a Queen Drawing at 8 p.m. Every Thursday there is Happy Hour from 4-7 p.m. and burgers and fries are $3. Every Sunday there is Euchre at 3 p.m. Every Tuesday there is Happy Hour from 4-7 p.m. and Pizza Nite from 5-8 p.m. There will a rib eye steak dinner on Oct. 10 from 6-8 p.m., a fish fry on Oct. 17 from 6-8 p.m. and chicken and pot pie dinner on Oct. 24 from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 11 will feature music by Frank DeVito from 7-10 p.m. On Oct. 8, there will be a SAL meeting at 6:30 p.m. There will be a membership meeting Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. On Oct. 25, there will be a Halloween party and Bulleit Creek Band will perform at 7 p.m. For information about hall rentals for a meeting or event, call 937-456-9173.

Services performed

The Preble County Honor Guard performed funeral services for the following veterans, in August: Jack Stewart, USAF, Korea; Emory E. Bourne, U.S. Army, WWII; William J. Channell, USAF, Korea; Lou V. Goins, U.S.Army, WWII; Ernest L. Davis SR., U.S. Army, WWII; William C. Monahan, U.S. Army, Korea. The Preble County Honor Guard performed “Funeral Honors” for the following Veterans in September: Gilvie Mitchell Brown, US Navy - Gulf War; Ellis B. Johnson, US Army - Vietnam; Marion F. Hill Sr., US Army - WW II; Leon E. Brewer, US Army - Korea.

DAV meetings

Disabled American Veterans meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m., at 210 N. Commerce Street, Lewisburg. Members are encouraged to attend. Veterans looking for a home legion are welcomed to come. Active duty and younger veterans are encouraged to become members as well.

VFW Post 8066

The VFW 8066, 401 W. Lexington Rd., Eaton, holds it monthly meetings on the First Monday of each month. The Ladies Auxiliary meets the second Monday of the month; the Men’s Auxiliary meets the third Monday of the month. For more information, call 937-456-5281.

PC Veterans Service ID Cards

Preble County Veteran Services is now offering honorably discharged veterans the opportunity to have a picture identification card. You may obtain your ID card at Veterans Services at no cost to you. You must bring a copy of your DD214 verifying character of discharge. For additional information you may contact Veterans Services at 937-456-6111.

“We Care” Program

In an effort to acknowledge the sacrifices of our local veterans and to promote spending within our own community, Preble County Veteran Services has launched a new program entitled “We Care”. Veteran Services will supply local honorably discharged veterans with an official “picture identification card” which would be presented to local businesses when making their purchases. The veteran would then receive a discount from the total cost of the purchase. We have sixteen businesses’ currently enrolled in the program. If your business would like to participate in this program, contact Veteran Services at 108 N. Barron St., Eaton.
