DARKE COUNTY - Three vehicles, including an electric Smart car, were involved in a crash Friday afternoon.


Emergency personnel responded to the accident at the intersection of State Route 49 North and State Route 47 just after 1:30 p.m. According to deputies on the scene, a GMC Envoy was traveling southbound on State Route 49 when it collided with a Smart Fortwo (electric vehicle) that was headed eastbound on State Route 47 after the Envoy failed to yield at the intersection stop sign. Both vehicles then collided with a Lincoln sedan that was stationary at northbound State Route 49 stop sign.


A female passenger of the Lincoln and the male driver of the Smart Fortwo were transported to Wayne HealthCare with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the Envoy suffered only minor injuries and were not taken to hospital. The driver was cited for Failure to Yield.
