GREENVILLE - Emergency personnel responded to a report of a male pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on the 500 block of Ash Street in Greenville Friday afternoon.

After preliminary investigation at the scene, the Greenville Police Department discovered that the male was intoxicated and told officers that he had fallen in the street and injured his back. He admitted that no vehicle was involved and he was under the influence of alcohol.

The man was transported by Greenville Township Rescue to Wayne HealthCare to be checked and treated for his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
