EATON — A youth minister who served at a Camden church has changed his plea from “not guilty” to “guilty” of sexual battery.
Kevin Reed, 35, of Eaton, was indicted in the Preble County Common Pleas Court in late May, on one count of sexual battery of a minor for actions which took place in part at the Higher Heights Church of God, according to a Camden police report.
Reed changed his plea on Wednesday, July 9. A jury trial in the case had been scheduled for Monday, July 14.
The indictment claimed Reed, on or between July 1, 2013 and Aug. 30, 2013, engaged in “sexual conduct with” a 17-year-old member of the church congregation.
At the time of the offense, Reed was working as a youth minister with Higher Heights. According to court documents, the victim regularly attended youth ministry meetings at the church where she met Reed.
Sentencing in the case has been scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m.
