Heidi Bortel with the H.I.T. (Home Is The) Foundation Senior Home Repair Program partnered with Timken Steel Company St. Clair Plant to help others on Earth Day. The weather was not going to be good so projects were going to take place April 25 instead. Aimee Kral and her co-workers arrived at my home that morning when it was drizzling, chilly and muddy. That did not stop them. They trimmed bushes, dug up garden space, planted flowers, added mulch, felled holes in the yard on their time. They finished everything and did so much to help me. I feel like I’ve been dreaming…I admit to killing a fern and, today, friends I did not know I had made a difference in my life. I want to thank Heidi, Aimee and everyone at Timken Steel for the generosity and kindness shown to me and other seniors.

Sincerely,

Joan Hemmelgarn

P.S. You won’t see wooden tulips in my yard this year. I’ve got live flowers!
