Whispering Christmas says ‘Thanks”

The Whispering Christmas Committee wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the community for its generous support for the season in 2016. Attendance and donations were excellent.

The Whispering Christmas drive-thru lighting display is held at Fort St. Clair Park, Eaton, annually Dec. 1-31, 6-10 p.m., with refreshments served nightly in Santa’s Cabin Dec. 1-24. As many of you may not know, this spectacular presentation is provided to the public solely on donations and volunteer help.

The Whispering Christmas Committee would like to recognize the following groups and businesses for their contribution to the successful event:

•All of the serving groups who provide cookies and volunteer their time to serve the refreshments in Santa’s Cabin.

•Ace Hardware-Eaton, for providing all of the Styrofoam cups for the hot cocoa and having electrical supplies in stock for purchase. Plus, all of the leftover Christmas stock items.

•McDonald’s-Eaton, for providing all of the punch and cold drink cups as well as lunch for the volunteers on the first set-up day.

•Eaton Computer & Robots-R-Us Team #3266 for the wonderful music, radio station access and animated light display.

•Eaton’s Fort St. Clair Park Maintenance Crew, for always being there when needed and for building terrific fires in the cabin.

•Eaton’s Police Department for making the park a safe environment for those who opened and closed the park each night.

•Eaton High School’s Choir for the entertainment.

•City of Eaton Office Staff for helping coordinate the serving group calendar and fielding the telephone calls.

•Walmart-Eaton for the help ordering the cocoa mix and candy canes.

All of the volunteers who donate their time, strength, and physical labor to erect all of the displays, string all of the lights, change light bulbs, repaint the wooden displays, decorate the cabins, open and close the park each night, and make sure that the experience is a joyous one for everyone.

The number of volunteers is getting smaller and the Committee is reaching out to the local communities for help. If interested in assisting with future Whispering Christmas Seasons, please contact the Committee at [email protected]. An automatic reply will be sent back with the current schedule of work weekends, along with other helpful information.

The Whispering Christmas Committee welcomes individuals, families, groups, clubs, school sports teams and clubs, church groups, businesses and other organizations. Anyone can be a part of this fun and exciting event in Preble County.

Thank you all for keeping the lights on.
