The second annual Dylan’s Penny Walk, held Oct. 12,2013, was a great success, with 90 plus walkers venturing out on a perfect fall day. Welcome was given by Missy Smith¬Potter, Dylan’s aunt, then Rev. Wayne Morrison blessed the walk before walkers, young and young at heart, dogs and strollers, took part in the 2.4 mile walk from Eaton High School through Mound Hill and Fort St. Clair.

Through the generous sponsorships and donations from the community, along with registrations of the participants, we have been able to meet our goal to contribute to the Eaton Brook Gould Library and to the scholarship set up in Dylan’s memory to his Eaton graduating class of 2017.

Without the support and participation of the following, this event could not have been possible. Our sincere thanks to Tonna and Dave Ditmer, R.P.Cooper families, Rusty and Rodney for set up and tear down, tables and tents; Sharon Smith, Annette Smith, Angie Schultz, Marlene Wehner for registration/t-shirt table, Sam Atkinson, sound system; Walgreens for water donation; Beth Pool and First Presbyterian Church youth for granola bars; Kevin and Stacy Smith! Angie and Bryan Schultz for fruit donation; a special thank you to Doug Ross for yet another wonderful shirt design. Also, much gratitude to Kee Printing and Big Cat Party Supply for supplying our cause with registration flyers, Pat Taylor, donation of yard signs. Wonderful raffle prizes were given by Karen Marshall of Reflections Salon, Eaton Kroger, and Walmart.

We deeply thank the following for their generous sponsorships: Moonshine Screen Printing, Lee Plastic Co., Cornerstone Manufacturing, Nelson Hardin Family, Henny Penny Corp., Dr. Suzanne Leach, Dr. Sandra Mendel, Eilerman Insurance Agency, Eaton First Presbyterian Church, Dr. Mark Vosler, Drs. Joe & Julie DiCicco, Sherrie and Greg Howard, Tobias Electric, Angie and Bryan Schultz, Tim and Annette Smith, Daniel and Sharon Smith, Don Smith, Missy Smith-Potter and family, Ann Napier, Ammke Construction.

Donors for Dylan’s Penny Walk were: Eaton Middle School Student Council, Doug and Lori Ross, Melissa Blumenthal, Freedom First Credit Union, Taryn and Brian Talbot, John and Jean Tuggle, Sandie Fudge, Steve and Dawn Orr, Jill Ross, Teresa and Mike Schmidt, Ron and Kay Garrett, Fred Curtis, Groom Family, Carrie Stevens, Lisa Noble, Stephaney Washington, Paula Crosley Flake, Glen and Beverly Childers, Tina Deaton, Dottie Ditmer, Carolyn Graham, Linda Aukerman, Sam Powers, Marlene Wehner, Michelle and Nacho Salcedo,

The support of the Preble County community has made this second walk possible and we will continue to make this an annual affair in October on Dylan’s birthday weekend. The love and support you have shown us these past two years is deeply cherished. Thank you.
