From the Lakengren Office
The 2014 Lakengren Dues and Assessments invoices are in the process of being prepared for mailing in March. This year, the total will be $663.61. Fillable registration forms for vehicle/watercraft stickers and membership passes will not be mailed with invoices this year but will be available online at www.lakengrenpoa.net. Forms must be completed, printed out, signed and returned with proper payment for processing. For those members without internet access or ability to print, registration forms will be available at the Lakengren Office. Payment in the form of cash, check, and money order, Master Card, Visa or Discover will be accepted. Payment plans are available. Please contact the Lakengren Office with questions at 937-456-3173 or by emailing email@example.com.
Also, docks in Lakengren may be in danger of being damaged due to the thick layer of ice on the lake. Lake levels may be impacted due to the rain and melting ice/snow. Residents are urged to take precautions and remove ice around their dock legs to prevent damage.
Special Folks Feted
Best laid plans go awry. The umpteenth snowstorm of the season canceled last week’s Women’s Club Employees Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday. Let’s hope that today will be better weather-wise and the special event will be taking place today.
Blues Fest on Tap
We have one more chance to toot the horn for Josh Garrett & The Bottom Line. This Saturday night the Annual Winter Blues Fest will be taking place at the Lodge sponsored by Andrew Gaydosh & Associates. The musicians will tune up starting at 7 p.m. and begin the concert by 8 p.m. It will be $5 a head to hear the Louisiana stomping music created by this band.
Garden Clubbers will gather on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lodge. They call it “Meet & Eat,” but Dick Shank calls it the first meeting of this year for his fellow club members. Come prepared to be surprised about all the great programs set up for 2014. Membership dues will be collected.
Purple to Red
The Lakengren Little Red Hen Hatters will be celebrating “Go Red for Women” at Buckeye Jake’s on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. Members were asked “How much red do you own?” Ladies will forego their usual purple outfits for all red on this special night. Be sure to let Dori Spence or Ginger Adams know if you plan to attend.
Mardi gras Party
Bill Holtman of Lakengren asks, “Have you ever attended a Lakengren Mardi Gras? If you have not, you are in for a pleasant surprise.” Holtman’s Dixieland band called Jazzmerized will be belting out tunes for this adult-only party decorated like the legendary French Quarter. This special event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. Come see who will be announced as this year’s King & Queen. For $10 tickets and table reservations, just call 937-456-3387. Please use rear entrance to the Lodge.
In Like a Dragon
The snow-covered ground did not keep away friends of the Dragon-sponsored card games in early February. So they plan to repeat the beverage-tasting on March 1 at the Lodge. To learn all about the details, just call Paul Healy at 937-456-3387 for information.
Cook Off Judges
The Gasper Fire Department will return as judges for this year’s Annual Chili Cook Off at the Lodge on Saturday, March 8 at 3 p.m. For entry forms and details of the contest, handouts are available at the Lakengren guardhouse, the LPOA office, and the Lodge. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place plus a fifty-fifty raffle to cover expenses. You may call Ginger Adams at 937-456-1926 or Alice Forte at 937-472-1033 for preparation and set-up details.
