WEST ALEXANDRIA — Running on their home track, Twin Valley South’s boys and girls track team fared well at the Cross County Conference meet on Saturday, May 13.

So well that the Panthers boys’ team took home the first place, while the girls placed second.

The boys team tallied 127 point to edge out Miami East, who scored 126.5 by half a point. Tri-County North was fifth and National Trail was 11th with 26 points.

For the girls, Covington bested the host Panthers 136-130. Tri-County North was fifth with 53 points. National Trail was 12th.

South girls coach Glen Marby said junior Mylan Crews set meet records 100- and 200-meter dashes and her time in the 200 was a new school record, besting her mother’s time.

South Senior Madison Wright set new school record in the 1600 run and the 4×400 relay team also broke school record.

“Overall it was an outstanding effort by the team. We really competed hard,” Mabry said. “(We are) looking forward to see how far we can go starting next week at districts.”
