After a nearly two-week break, Eaton’s wrestlers returned to the mat on Saturday, Jan. 11, for a dual match with Greeneview and came out victorious.

On the strength of having a full squad, the Eagles beat Greeneview 48-25.

The Eagles received forfeits in five weight classes as they improved to 9-1 in duals matches.

Coleman Foster, (106 pounds), Mac Altom (120) and 160 Aldin Leaker (160) all recorded pins for the Eagles.

Eaton will enter the “meat of their season” over the next three weeks, as they will have a match on each Wednesday and a two day tournament on the weekends.

“Now we build for the end of the season,” Eaton coach Mark Silvers said.

The JV wrestlers placed 4th at Ben Logan this past week. The Eagles were led by Parker Wilken, who was the Eagles lone champion in the tournament, Devlin Adams and Silas Nelson, each placed second.

The Junior high squad took home first at the Lebanon Invite with Wade Monebrake and Drew Combs coming away with individual titles. Cameron Schmidt, Noah Towe, and Seth Reynolds each placed second.

Silvers said both the junior varsity and junior high teams “continue to lay the ground work for the future.”

The varsity squad will hit Dunbar and Talawanda at Talawanda Wednesday, Jan. 15. Then travel to Alliance for the Top Gun Invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18.

Eaton will begin the state duals on Wednesday, Jan. 22, before hosting its annual invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25.
