Editor:

All of the Preble County Relay for Life teams, American Cancer Society staff members, along with myself, would like to thank everyone who participated and donated in the Relay for Life event at the Preble County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 10.

Thanks to all for your monetary donations and donations of gifts that were raffled to raise money for cancer research. We want to thank Brittany Bowling for singing the National Anthem, and cancer survivor Courtney Chadwell for her opening ceremony speech. Also, thanks to Renato Ibarra for being in charge of music, the fairgrounds committee for letting us use their facility, Eaton City Schools for letting us use Bruce School for meetings, as well as the YMCA, Darian Rader and Tiana White for leading the event, the leadership team for planning the event, and regional staff member Ali Ghysels.

Thanks to Your Flower Shop, Kroger, Parker Hannifin, Mote & Associates, Neaton, Cato, Sam’s Club, Somerville National Bank, Walmart, Walgreens, Linda Taylor and Sherri Hood for sponsoring the event and to Christy Austin, Paige Wagers, Amber Lohrey and Samantha Gregg for their help with serving the luncheon and cleanup, and to Sheriff Mike Simoson, American Legion Post 322 Honor Guard in West Alexandria, The Register-Herald and Twin Valley Publications. Thanks to First Financial Bank in Camden for helping us collect items for the Hope House in Cincinnati.

Right now, with what has been donated, The American Cancer Society for Preble County has collected $21,151.52 for this year. Donations can be made year-round. All donations are greatly appreciated. Visit the website at www.relayfor life.org/preblecounty for more information.

Everyday, someone is diagnosed with cancer. Thanks again for helping us fight the fight and for supporting this event!
