The Walk to Remember, Walk for Hope committee thanks the following sponsors for their support of the 5th Annual Preble County Suicide Awareness & Prevention Walk.

The Hundley Family, Samaritan Behavioral Health, Preble County TASC, Preble County Commission, Neaton Auto, Swihart Family Farms, Keelsra Business Services, Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Gebhart Counseling Solutions, The HIT Foundation, Vancrest Health Care Center, Michael Murphy Insurance Agency, Great Times Photo Booth, the City of Eaton, and Marsh.

Coordinated by the Preble County Mental Health & Recovery Board, the Walk is dedicated to those in our community we have lost to suicide. Its purpose is to fund local suicide prevention efforts including educating and surveying all middle school to high school students; to raise awareness about depression; and to communicate the signs of suicide. Since beginning the school prevention & education program, students at-risk for depression have dropped eight percent, students thinking about suicide have dropped six percent, and suicide attempts have dropped three percent.

Additionally, MHRB appreciates the support the community provides in continuing the Walk and aiding in the efforts to prevent suicide. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Help is available. Call Samaritan Behavioral Health at 456-1915 or MHRB at 456-6827 if you or someone you know may be depressed. Depression is a flaw in chemistry, not character.
