Whether you may realize it or not, the health department is a part of your daily life here in Preble County. The benefits and services that the Health District are providing the community are plentiful and are a good value for your dollar.

As a nationally accredited health department, you can be assured that the programs and services we provide are as responsive as possible to the needs of our community while demonstrating increased accountability and credibility to the people we serve.

What does the health department do exactly? You wouldn’t be wrong to think of us as inspectors of restaurants and promoters of food safety, but I assure you there is much, much more.

In addition to food service inspections, we license and inspect swimming pools, home sewage treatment systems and the wells that provide water to your homes; all essential parts of your life.

Many of our other services, which are equally important to the community, are provided without a fee, to all individuals regardless of income or insurance status. These services include infectious disease outbreak investigations and nuisance complaint investigations. Our clinic provides a variety of services such as immunizations and the WIC program is an invaluable asset to the community providing education to children and parents about nutrition, lifestyles, and activity.

Because of levy dollars and your support, the health district can continue to serve you daily.

Please remember on Nov. 5, the health district is working for you both now and when the next pandemic strikes. Issue 14 will not raise taxes and will help continue local public services for us all in Preble County.
