Donations, volunteers sought for dinner

Editor:

It is hard to believe but this is the 20th annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner to be served at Bruner Arena at the Preble County Fairgrounds in Eaton. Last year, with the support of the Preble County Community, the dinner served over 750 meals to local residents.

Again this year, the committee is asking for businesses, organizations, and individuals to please support the Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The Goal is to reach $8,000 to cover the costs of food and supplies. The dinner will be held at Bruner Arena at the Preble County Fairgrounds and in addition, the Preble County Pork Festival Committee has agreed to allow the use of their kitchen equipment set up in Bruner as well.

Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area is providing the fiscal services for collection, monitoring and expending the donations. A financial report for the project will be made available as funds are identified solely for the Holiday project. The local organization, Community Action Partnership of Preble County, has assisted in the project over the years by ordering food and supplies, allowing the use of small kitchen equipment, coordination volunteers, and the point of contact for the community.

If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to Community Action Partnership of Preble County and mail to 308 Eaton-Lewisburg Road, Eaton, OH 42320. In addition, please identify in the “memo” line that the donation is for the Community Thanksgiving Day.

If you would like additional information, would like to volunteer, or know of someone who needs a meal delivered that day, please contact Ms. Rita Daily at Community Action Partnership of Preble County at 937-456-2800, Ext. 211.

Thank you for your time and consideration in supporting the Preble County Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Without your support, many would not have an opportunity to have a hot, nutritious meal on Thanksgiving.
