Pork Festival set for weekend

EATON — This weekend marks the 43rd year for the pork extravaganza known as the Preble County Pork Festival. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21, and promises to bring all the pig-related food and fun — as well as one of the country’s largest craft shows — to the fairgrounds in Eaton.Since 1971, the Preble Co. Pork Festival has been held the third full weekend in September at the Preble County Fairgrounds, all thanks to the help of hundreds of volunteers. Admission and parking are free.A la carte food items, like fresh grilled pork chops, ham, pulled pork and sausage sandwiches are available, and for lunch and supper there is also the ever-popular pork chop smorgasbord, complete with side items and pie galore.


Diabetes support group meeting set

EATON — A Diabetes Support Group meeting is held at the Preble County Senior Center, 800 East St. Clair Street, Eaton, at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month. After an August summer break, the meeting will resume on Sept. 18.The meetings are planned to offer support and information to those with diabetes and to share experiences with others.
