Blazers extend winning streak to 5

NEW PARIS — National Trail’s boys’ basketball team overcame a sluggish start to earn its fifth straight victory with a 56-28 win over New Miami on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The Blazers trailed 12-3 late in the first quarter but went on a 39-5 run over a two-and-a-half quarter stretch to pull away.

Trail was led by Adam Eyler’s 15 points. Dalton Mason had 13 and Zach Woodall and Peyton Harrison chipped in with 11. Trail is now 6-2 overall. New Miami is 0-8.

On Friday, Dec. 23, the Blazers cruised to a 41-18 victory over Randolph Southern (Ind.) Trail had a balanced attack offensivley and was led by Travis Hunt with 10 and Eyler with nine. Caleb Wissel paced the Rebels with eight.

The Blazers improved to 3-0 in the Cross County Conference with a convincing 53-31 win over host Tri-County North on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The Blazers were paced by Hunt with 18 points and Harrison with 14.

Leading 17-12 midway through the second quarter, Trail went on an 11-4 run to close out the half and take a 28-16 lead at halftime.

Trail opened the thrid quarter on a 9-4 run to take a 37-20 lead and extended its lead to 43-25 by the end of the quarter. The Blazers lead by as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter.

The Blazers are scheduled to host Miami East on Friday, Jan. 6 and visit Covington on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
