Shawnee grapplers place second at Milton

WEST MILTON — Preble Shawnee’s wrestling team had three individual champions at the Milton-Union Varsity Bulldog Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 7, while a total of eight Arrows placed among the top five in their respective divisions.

Shawnee totaled 186 points to place second behind host Milton-Union, which scored 251 points. Twin Valley South scored 96 points to finish ninth. Monroe (140.5), Brookville (140) and Tippecanoe (130) rounded out the top five.

For Shawnee, Rylan Roberts won the 106 pound weight class. Camron Neal grabbed the title at 113 pounds and Travis Tatum was the 132 pound champion.

Tanner Crabtree was second at 196 pounds.

Placing third for the Arrows was Drew Combs at 152 pounds.

Taking fourth place spots were Cayne Grimme at 138 pounds and Kanyon Schall at 160 pounds.

Kage Worley was fifth at 120 pounds.

For Twin Valley South, Skyler Straszeim was first at 182 pounds for the Panthers only champion.

Logan White placed third at 138 pounds. Austin Hansford was fifth at 145 and Wesley Van Zant was fifth at 195.

Preble Shawnee is scheduled to host Middletown Madison in a dual match on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The Arrows will be off a week before traveling to Dixie on Wednesday, Jan. 18 for another dual match.

Twin Valley South is scheduled to compete at Tri-County North’s Panther Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14. South will then be off for week before traveling to Eaton for the Sam Ridder/Eaton Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20-21.
