Eaton 3rd at VV Invitational

GERMANTOWN — Eaton had eight wrestlers place at the Valley View Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 7, which led the Eagles to a third place finish. National Trail placed sixth and Tri-County North was 10th.

St. Paris Graham won the team title with 315 points, while Versailles was second with 242.56. Eaton had 136, while Trail scored 78 and North had 64.

“This was a great team effort on the guys’ part. To place eight wrestlers in the tournament was a good team response. We didn’t wrestle our best, but we are getting better. Each match is another step in the process,” Eaton coach Mark Silvers said.

At 113 pounds, Wade Monebrake placed fourth wrestling in one of the toughest brackets in the tournament, according to Silvers. At 125, Chris Weadick had a finished a good tournament, placing fourth. At 132, Coleman Manning placed third. At 138, Noah Towe placed sixth. At 145, Logan Chapin placed fifth. At 160, Isaac Ilo was second. At 170, Seth Hodapp placed fourth. At 182, Spencer Reynolds placed third. At 195, Christian Michael placed sixth.

For National Trail, Peyton Lane won the 113 weight class. At 152, Jesse Bisner was sixth. At 170, Craig Montgomery was third and Owen Cook was fifth and at 285, Dylan Hager was third.

For Tri-County North, Andrew Hutchinson was 5th at 106 pounds. At 145, Jacob Isaacs was sixth. At 170, Zane Krull was sixth. At 195, Tyler Gray was fourth. At 220, Wyatt Hutchins was second.

Eaton also competed on Thursday, Jan. 5 at Greenville, where the Eagles beat the host Green Wave 54-16 to improve their dual record to 6-2.

Eaton will compete at the Top Gun in Alliance this coming weekend.

Tri-County North and National Trail will compete in the Panther Invitational hosted by Tri-County North on Saturday, Jan. 14.
