Eaton, Shawnee compete at SWBL

MONROE — Preble Shawnee’s girls’ track team placed fourth at the Southwestern Buckeye League Track and Field Championships Saturday, May 13 at Monroe High School.

The Arrows tallied 60.5 points in the Buckeye Division, while the boys team placed seventh with 40 points.

Waynesville capture the girls team title with 184.5 points and Milton-Union won the boys side with 157.

In the Southwestern Division, Eaton’s boys placed sixth with 74 points while the girls were seventh with 13 points.

Oakwood won the girls title with 166 points and Bellbrook won the boys side with 122.5.

“Overall, we competed very well against a very tough field of men and women’s teams,” Eaton coach Randy McKinney said. “Most of our athletes had their best times, jumps, vaults, throws to this point in the season. I am very please with the efforts and performances of our athletes. I knew going in it was going to be a very competitive meet for all our athletes.”

For Eaton Seth Gard captured his third consecutive SWBL title in the 3,200, while Chase Smith and Connor Gowanny won their first SWBL titles in the discus and 400 meter dash respectively.

“All three of these young men have worked very hard all season long in their various events and are very deserving of the accomplishment. In our league an individual championship finish in any event is quite an accomplishment given the overall talent level of the track and field athletes of the league,” McKinney said. “The league championship is a good meet to help prepare us for the upcoming District Championship meet.”

Preble Shawnee’s girls’ 4×800 relay team placed fourth in 12:00.76.

Eaton’s girls 4×800 team was sixth with at time of 11:20.03.

Preble Shawnee’s boys 4×800 team was sixth in 10:17.23, while Eaton foursome was sixth in their division with a time of 9:14.28.

Preble Shawnee’s Kylie Mikesell was eighth in the 100 hurdles in 19.89.

Shawnee’s Tanner Hammonds was sixth in the boys 110 hurdles in 19.03.

Eaton’s Darius Benton was seventh in the SW 110 hurdles in 20.03.

The Arrows Sidney Hacker was fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.69 and Elise Walker was seventh in 13.77.

Eaton’s Seth Hodapp was seventh in the 100 in 12.08.

In the 4×200 relay, Preble Shawnee’s girls were fifth in 1:59.35, while Eaton was fifth in the SW Division in 1:57.86.

In the boys 4×200, Shawnee was fifth with a time of 1:42.39 and Eaton was fourth in 1:36.60.

In the girls 1,600, Shawnee’s Cami Hollon was fifth in 6:02.73.

In the boys 1,600, Eaton’s Seth Gard was fourth with a time of 4:33.44.

In the girls 4×100, Shawnee was second with a time of 53.06 and Eaton was sixth with a time of 55.15.

In the boys 4×100, Shawnee was sixth in 47.49. Eaton was second in 47.09.

Eaton’s Connor Gowanny won the SW Division 400 in a time of 52.25.

In the boys 300 hurdles, Shawnee’s Lane Conway was seventh in 48.48.

In the girls 800, Eaton’s Sasha Taxter was eighth in 2:35.67.

In the girls Buckeye Division 200, Shawnee’s Hacker was fourth with a time of 28.92 and Alivia Reek was seventh in 30.17.

In the boys SW Division 200, Gowanny was sixth in 24.52.

In the girls SW Division 3,200, Eaton’s Katie Bassler was seventh with a time of 13:04.78.

In the boys SW Divison 3,200, Eaton Seth Gard was first in 9:52.59.

In the girls Buckeye Division 4×400, Preble Shawnee was third in 4:35.98.

In the girls SW Division 4×400, Eaton was sixth in 4:56.42.

In the boys SW Division 4×400, Eaton fourth in 3:43.66.

In the girls Buckeye Division discus, Megan Roell of Preble Shawnee was sixth with a throw of 80-5.

In the boys Buckeye Division discus, Ty Stevenson of Preble Shawnee was sixth with a throw of 105.8 and Tanner Crabtree was eighth with a toss of 103.10.

In the boys SW Division discus, Eaton’s Chase Smith was the league champion with a throw of 143-10.

In the girls Buckeye Division high jump, Shawnee’s Elise Walker claimed the league title with a jump of 5-0.

In the girls SW Division high jump, Eaton’s Brooke Caplinger tied for sixth clearing 4-2.

In the boys Buckeye Division high jump, Chase Thompson of Preble Shawnee was third at 5-8 and Conway was eighth at 5-4.

In the boys SW Division, Eaton’s Cole Bulach was eighth at 5-2.

In the girls Buckeye pole vault, Shawnee’s Reek tied for fourth clearing 7-0.

In the girls SW pole vault, Kylee Moore of Eaton was sixth with a vault of 7-6.

In the boys Buckeye pole vault, Dakota Keeler of Preble Shawnee was third clearing 9-6 and Jacob Doty was eighth at 7-0.

In the boys SW pole vault, Eaton’s Braden Clabaugh cleared 11-0 to finish fourth and Seth Hodapp was sixth at 9-6.

In the boys SW shot put, Eaton Chase Smith was fourth with a throw of 43-3 ¾.

In the girls Buckeye shot put, Abby Elam of Preble Shawnee was seventh with a toss of 29-9.

In the boys Buckeye Division long jump, Chase Thompson of Preble Shawnee soared 20-6 ½ for the win and Tyler Blankenship was sixth with a jump of 18-0.

In the girls Buckeye long jump, Kaylie Campbell of Preble Shawnee was sixth with a leap of 14-2 ¾.

Eaton will compete in the Division II districts Thursday and Saturday at Graham High School. The top four individuals and top four relay teams in each event qualify on to the regional championships next week.

Preble Shawnee’s girls were scheduled to compete Tuesday in the Dayton Division III district at Welcome Stadium with the finals scheduled for Saturday.

Shawnee’s boys will compete in the Division II districts, also at Welcome Stadium, on Thursday and Saturday.
