NEW PARIS — National Trail’s baseball team beat Dixie 7-1 in the first round of the Division III sectional tournament on Monday, May 8 before bowing out of the tournament two days later to the No. 2 seed.

Peyton Miller pitched six innings and allowed a run while striking out eight against the Greyhounds.

Hunter Lee pitched a scoreless seventh to secure the win.

Offensively, Trey Mann led the Blazers with a pair of hits including a double. Travis Hunt chipped in two hits also with a double followed by Lee with two hits.

The Blazers got on the scoreboard early with a pair of runs in the first innings. The game remained 2-0 until the third when Trail scored five times to take command of the game. Dixie scored its lone run in the sixth.

On Wednesday, Trail traveled to No. 2 seed Carlisle for its second round tournament game and came up short, losing 3-1.
