North has 2-game winning streak snapped with 20-7 loss to Covington

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North has its two-game winning streak snapped with a 20-7 loss to visiting Covington on Friday, Sept. 15.

While the Panthers saw their streak end, Covington ended one of its own as well. The Buccs had lost three straight coming into the game.

The Buccs got on the the scoreboard first as quarterback Cade Schmelzer scored on a one-yard run to give the Buccs a 7-0 lead after the successful point after try.

North tied the game before halftime when quarterback Brian Stinson connected with running back Josh Heindl on a 39-yard touchdown pass and successful point after made it 7-7.

The Buccs added two second half scores to pull away for the win.

Covington took the opening possession of the second half and scored on a one-yard run by Schmelzer to extend its lead to 13-7

The Buccs final score of the night came on a 25-yard run by Gage Kerrigan in the fourth quarter.

For the Panthers, they were held to under 200 yards on offense.

North, now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Cross County Conference, is scheduled to visit Bradford on Friday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
