LEWISBURG — Turnovers proved costly for Tri-County North’s football team when it hosted Arcanum on Friday, Oct. 6.

The Panthers, which entered the game with a 4-2 record, gave the ball away five times in suffering their first loss to Arcanum in nearly a decade.

When the dust settled, the visiting Trojans left Lewisburg with a dominating 39-16 victory, snapping Tri-County North’s brief two-game winning streak.

The loss to Arcanum was the first for North since the 2008 season.

North trailed just 13-8 at the half, but was outscored 26-8 in the second half.

Arcanum had good field position most of the game and was able to utilize a short field to score points. Ray Denniston scored, Daniel Coats ran back a punt for a special teams score, Evan Atchley ran for two touchdowns, and Austin Fourman had a 19-yard carry for a score.

Turnovers were a big factor in the game. North turned the ball over five times, while Arcanum didn’t give up the ball once.

North, now 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the CCC, is scheduled to play at Bethel on Friday, Oct. 6.
