Eagles 2nd at Ed Leas Invite

EATON — Eaton’s cross country team hosted its annual Ed Leas Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7, to close out its regular season schedule.

Preble Shawnee, Tri-County North and Twin Valley South also competed at the event.

Alex McCarty, who finished second overall in 17 minutes, 00.69 seconds, led Eaton’s boys to a second place finish.

The Eagles tallied 57 points. Kings, a Division I team, won the meet with 35 points. Twin Valley South was ninth with 250. Tri-County North was 13th with 363 and Preble Shawnee was 17th with 436.

Eaton’s girls placed third with 110 points. Kings won the meet with 18 points and Russia was second with 105 points. Tri-County North was 11th with 331 and Preble Shawnee was 12th with 342.

For Eaton’s boys, Cole Bulach (17:05.55) was fourth, Alex Newport (17:59.04) was 15th, Jack Bortel (17:59.99) was 16th, Steven Cottle (18:04.34) was 21st, Todd Coates (18:28.44) was 31st and Dylan Sudding (18:47.84) was 40th.

For Eaton’s girls, Katie Bassler (21:11.73) was 13th, Claire Meyer (21:34.69) was 16th, Destiny Brubaker (21:55.31) was 20th, Briana Baker (23:16.00) was 34th, Sasha Taxter (23:34.56) was 36th, Arica Hamilton (24:20.81) was 44th, and Gabby Best (24:21.63) was 45th.

For Twin Valley South, Kyle Saul (18:03.78) was 19th, Brandan Wright (19:20.64) was 53rd, Chris Keener (19:25.23) was 57th, Tyler Wright (19:28.35) was 59th, Curtis Hittle (23:35.09) was 130th and Justus Craft (24:45.04) was 140th.

For Tri-County North’s boys, Brandon Smeltzer (19:233.61) was 55th, Ian Alexander (20:58.36) was 85th, Gregory Ras (21:57.03) was 106th, Curtis Grubbs (22:15.35) was 111th, and Patrick Timmons (23:01.61) was 125th.

For Tri-County North’s girls, Lauren Koenig (26:29.97) was 71st, Abigail Smeltzer (26:41.42) was 75th, Addie Singleton (28:36.98) was 87th, Hailey Brumley (29:47.06) was 95th, Caitlyn McCullough (32:03.92) was 103rd, and Julia Myers (32:05.840 was 104th

For Preble Shawnee’s boys, Rylan Roberts (18:47.08) was 39th, Dylan Childers (23:19.78) was 127th, Carter Roell (24:33.21) was 139th, Ethan Talbot (27:03.80) was 154th, and Jon Hicks (31:29.50) was 161st.

For Preble Shawnee’s girls, Caiden Duskey (25:01.87) was 59th, Alivia Reek (28:13.87) was 83rd, Debbie Tombragel (29:32.90) was 94th, Brooke Dalton (31:50.86) was 102nd, and Regina Blair (34:23.16) was 112th.
