Arrows, Panthers advance to sectional finals

PREBLE COUNTY — Preble Shawnee and Tri-County North’s girls’ soccer teams advanced to the sectional finals with second round wins last week.

The county’s remaining teams all lost in the first round.

No. 4 seed Preble Shawnee rolled past No. 16 Dayton Christian 5-0 in the second round of the girls’ Division III North sectional. The Arrows were scheduled to play No. 7 Catholic Central in the sectional final on Monday, Oct. 23, at Monroe. The winner will play in the district final on Thursday, Oct. 26, at a site yet to be determined.

Tri-County North had a first-round bye, before beating Cross County Conference rival Miami East, 3-0, on Thursday, Oct. 19. The No. 9 seed Panthers were scheduled to play No. 2 West Liberty-Salem, on Monday, Oct. 23, at Bellbrook High School. If North won, the Panthers will play in the district final on Thursday, Oct. 26, at site yet to be determined.

In the girls’ Dayton Division II sectional, Eaton lost to Wilmington, 4-0, on Monday, Oct. 16 in a first round match.

Twin Valley South’s season ended with a 1-0 loss to Franklin-Monroe on Monday, Oct. 16 in the first round of the Division III sectional.

National Trail lost to Brookville, 7-2, also on Monday, Oct. 16, in the first round of the Division III sectional.

In boys’ tournament play, Eaton lost to Valley View, 2-1, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the first round of the Division II sectional.

No. 12 seed Twin Valley South let a 2-1 halftime lead slip away in a 4-2 loss at No. 6 Milton-Union on Saturday, Oct. 21, in the second round of the Division III sectional.

Preble Shawnee lost in the first round of the Division III sectional at No. 4 West Liberty-Salem, 6-0.
