LEWISBURG — The Tri-County North volleyball squad had two Cross County Conference match ups last week, dropping both games as they continue to improve and build upon their progress as a program.

The Panthers started out the week against Franklin-Monroe, traveling to take on the Jets on Tuesday, Sept. 8. They lost in straight sets, 7-25, 15-25, and 6-25.

“We had too many hitting and serve receive errors, and couldn’t dig ourselves out. (Franklin Monroe) served tough and played well as a team,” said TCN head coach Sarah Collins.

Allee Demorest, Gracie Douglas, and Macey Dennison led the Panthers with nine, seven, and six digs, respectively. Cassi Stinson had two aces and Sara Harris had two solo blocks.

Two days later, North hosted Bradford, forcing the Raidroaders into a four-set contest.

They started out the match by forcing the game into extra points before Bradford won 26-24. They also won the next set 25-20 before the Panthers won the third set 25-23.

North dropped the final set 11-25 to close out the night.

“(We) served tough and played well together, but lost momentum in the fourth game. As a whole, we played much better. I am proud of the girls for playing as a team and working hard. We have to work on cutting down on errors, and if we can do that we will win more games,” said Collins. “We changed the line up and it worked much better for us.”

Demorest led the way with eight kills, two aces, and four digs. Dennison had nine digs, and 25 good serve reception passes. Harris had three solo blocks and an ace.

North was scheduled to travel to Arcanum on Tuesday, Sept. 15. They will host Twin Valley South on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The two losses drops them to 1-8 on the season.
