South falls to Newton, 68-38

PLEASANT HILL — Madison Johnson scored 12 points, but she was the only Twin Valley South player to reach double figures as the Panthers fell at Newton, 68-38, on Thursday, Jan. 18, in a Cross County Conference girls basketball game.

South fell behind 18-12 after the first quarter and was down 39-22 at the break.

The Indians extended the lead to 50-32 after three.

Alexis Bennett added seven for South, while Mylan Crews and Abby Bingham each chipped in five.

South (5-9, 2-6 CCC), which as lost six straight, was scheduled to play Brookville on Monday, Jan. 22 and will host Tri-Village on Thursday. The Panthers will close out the week hosting Preble Shawnee on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. as part of an all-day event against the Arrows.
