TVS volleyball splits pair of CCC matches; beats Bethel, falls to Covington

WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley South volleyball split a pair of Cross County Conference games this week, opening up the week with a loss at Covington before getting a redeeming win against Bethel later in the week.

The Panthers opened up against the Buccs on Tuesday, Sept. 29, losing in straight sets 18-25, 14-25, 18-25.

“Against good teams, we can’t keep beating ourselves, we have to learn from our mistakes, keep our heads up, and force our opponents into making mistakes,” said TVS head coach Leslie Roberts. “We’ll get back to work at practice and get some of these errors corrected.”

No stats were provided from the match-up per Roberts’ policy on need giving out stats during a loss.

They didn’t have to wait long to get the bad taste out of their mouths though, as the Panthers rolled over Bethel 25-17, 25-20, 25-9 on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Leading the way for South was Abby Beneke, who tallied nine kills and two solo block. Emma Fergus added seven kills while Delaney Adams had 12 digs, nine service points, three aces and three kills. Audrey Chesney chipped in five kills and two aces, Samantha Janecek had nine service points, four aces and a kill, and Mylan Crews had 17 assists.

Madison Wright also was a big contributor, tallying 10 service points, three aces, and going 22 of 24 on serve receive.

South will travel to Tri-Village for a Volley for the Cure match on Thursday, Oct. 8. Doors open at 4:45 p.m.
