NT, Eaton earn high seeds

PREBLE COUNTY — National Trail and Eaton’s softball teams landed the highest seeds among county team’s at the sectional tournament draw on Sunday.

National Trail (12-3) earned the No. 2 seed in the Dayton Division IV sectional, while the Eagles (15-3) were voted as the No. 3 seed in the Dayton Division II sectional.

Eaton, which will be seeking its third straight sectional championship and a return to the district finals, will begin tournament play against No. 16 Trotwood (3-17) on Tuesday, May 7, at home. If the Eagles win, they will meet No. 14 Thurgood Marshall on Thursday, May 9 in the sectional final, also at home. The district semifinal is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at Tippecanoe High School against either No. 5 Fenwick, No. 8 Bellbrook or No. 13 Valley View.

Greenville is the No. 1, while Tipp is the No. 2 seed and Monroe is the No. 4 seed.

Trail will open tournament play on Thursday, May 9 with a home game against Cedarville. The winner will meet either No. 4 Tri-County North, No. 5 Catholic Central or No. 6 Dayton Christian.

North (8-6) will play either Catholic Central or Dayton Christian on Thursday, May 9, at home.

The district semifinal is scheduled for May 14 at Versailles High School.

Southeastern is the No. 1 seed. Franklin-Monroe is the No. 3 seed.

Twin Valley South (0-11) is the No. 11 seed and will play either Southeastern or No. 9 Yellow Springs on May 9.

In Division III, Preble Shawnee (8-8) is the No. 8 seed and will travel to No. 7 Indian Lake on Monday, May 6. The winner will meet either No. 6 Carlisle or No. 15 Northeastern on Wednesday, May 8 in the sectional final. The district semifinal is set for Monday, May 13 at Versailles.

Ben Logan earned the top seed. Brookville is the No. 2 seed, while Arcanum is No. 3 and West Liberty-Salem is No. 4.

All games begin at 5 p.m.
