Shawnee alum named pitcher of year at collegiate level

ANDERSON, Ind. — Hannah Belvo, an alumna of Preble Shawnee, has found a lot of success on the softball diamond for Anderson Universiy, a NCAA Division III program in Indiana.

On May 6, the junior ace was named the Pitcher of the Year for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Belvo helped lead Anderson to the HCAC tournament and earn their fifth staright NCAA tournament berth.

In conference play she was unbeaten, amassing a 4-0 record while recording a 1.21 earned run average. Belvo only allowed five runs in 29 innings of play, striking out 32 opponents and compiling four complete games in the process.

Overall for Anderson this year, Belvo sported a 2.40 ERA, while remaining unbeaten in the circle. She had a 7-0 overall record and two saves. She has thrown 55.1 innings and struck out 46 hitters during the season.
