EATON — For the first time, Eaton’s track team hosted the annual Dean Stoltz Invitational under the lights. The meet had been held on Saturday morning/afternoon for the first 28 years of the event.
The 29th version of the meet, which was held Friday, April 22, featured 14 schools with multiple state qualifiers from the previous year.
The invitational is named for the late Dean Stoltz, a longtime teacher and coach for the Eaton Community School District. During his career, Stoltz served as a basketball coach, assistant track and field coach was the first-ever coach of the cross country program.
Versailles swept both the boys and girls titles, scoring 166 1/2 and 123 points respectively. Twin Valley South’s girls were third with 99, Talawanda was fifth with 54. Host Eaton was sixth with 51 1/2.
On the boys side, TVS was fourth with 82 1/2, Eaton was fifth with 75 and National Trail was 12th with seven.
