NEW PARIS — National Trail racked up 10 hits and played error-less softball in beating Twin Valley South, 6-1, on Wednesday, April 27.
Payten Laird picked up the win, allowing just five hits while striking out eight, for the Blazers.
It took a while for the Blazers’ offense to get rolling.
After falling behind 1-0 in the fifth, Trail scored twice in the bottom of the inning then tacked on four more runs in the sixth.
Laird helped herself out, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and 3 RBIs. Bobbi Grimes went 2-for-3. Ariel Lee added a double. Kylee Aldridge, Aleah Hunt, and Savannah Abner all had base hits.
For South, Jayla Taylor had a double and an RBI. Lacey Emrick added a hit and scored the lone run for the Panthers.
South picked up its fifth win of the season on Friday, April 29, with a 13-12 victory over Mississinawa Valley.
The Panthers scored three in the first, four in the second and five more in the third to take what appeared to be a comfortable 12-4 lead. But MV rallied with fours run in the sixth and four more in the seventh, to close to within a run.
Sarah Bingham was 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBI and three runs scored. Madison Johnson was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Hailee Bright picked up the win for South.
