ARCANUM — The Preble Shawnee girls track team competed at the Arcanum Invitational on Friday, April 29, finishing fifth out of 10 teams.

Junior Elise Walker placed first in high jump, setting a meet record by clearing 5 feet, 4 inches. She also placed fourth in the 400 meter run.

Sidney Hacker placed second and Jane Feck placed third in the 100, both running their best times of the season.

Also placing third were Mackenzie Howard in the 400, and the 4×100 relay team of Alivia Reek, Sidney Hacker, Jane Feck, and Walker Walker.

“Overall, this was the best meet the girls have had this season as a team. We ran well and jumped well, and we had many personal records set Friday night,” Preble Shawnee coach Stefanie Hurley said.

“The girls are improving a lot and just at the right time with the SWBL league meet next week. This week we have the Preble County meet (Monday) at National Trail and Friday night at the Madison Invitational. I’m very proud of the girls and their hard work so far, and hope they keep it up for the next few weeks.”
