HUBER HEIGHTS — Eaton sent just a “handful of athletes” to compete at the Wayne Invitational on Thursday and Friday of last week. It was the only meet, other than the postponed Preble County Meet, for the Eagles.

Senior Madi Bowman had a personal best in the discus and placed fifth in a very competitive field of throwers.

She also had a personal best in the shot put of 34 feet, 9 1/2 inches, but did not make it to the finals. She also competed in the hammer.

“It was a very good two days for her,” Eaton track coach Randy McKinney said.

Chase Smith competed in the discus, throwing 122-5 on Thursday. He did not make the finals but competed very well, according to McKinney.

Sasha Taxter competed in the 800-meter run on Friday, finishing with a 2:32.

Seth Wright competed in the pole vault on Friday going out at 12-6.

Wyatt Cox competed in the 800, finishing with a season-best time of 2:06, dropping three seconds off his best time to date.

Seth Gard competed in the elite 3,200 meter run on Friday night (top 20 times entered only) placing 11th overall in a time of 9:43, which puts him among the top six in the state in Division II at this time.

“This is a very strong and highly competitive meet that we take several of our top athletes to every year,” McKinney said. “The field of competition is primarily Division I schools with a few Division II and III schools.”

Eaton was scheduled to compete at the Preble County Meet on Monday, May 2, and the Lebanon Invitational on Wednesday.
