North rallies for win over Eaton

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat county rival Eaton, 4-3 on Friday, May 6, to close out the regular season for both baseball teams.

The Panthers’ Zach Edgin scored the winning run on wild pitch.

Edgin got on base three times in the game for North. He scored one run and had two RBIs and doubled in the seventh inning to set up the winning run.

The bottom of the first saw North take a 1-0 lead.

Eaton took the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth and added another run in the sixth for a 3-1 lead.

While North hung tough on Thursday with Cross County Conference champion Arcanum, the Trojans pulled away late for the 9-3 victory.

Chandler Sproles boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate to pace North. He singled in the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.

On Wednesday, North pulled out a 5-4 win over Milton-Union.

The Panthers pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. North went up for good on an RBI single by Jordan Overcash, scoring Garrett Woodyard.

Colin Whipp got the win for North, allowing three runs over five innings. Whipp struck out two, walked one and gave up four hits.

North’s Bailey Lairson put away the final six outs to record the save.

The Panthers are scheduled to open sectional tournament on Wednesday, May 11, at home against the winner of the Catholic Central/Emmanuel Christian game.
