NEW MADISON — The National Trail boys varsity golf team raised its overall record to 8-2 by defeating Tri-Village High School, 177-191, on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Senior Logan Petitt led the Blazers by shooting a 39 for the match. He was co-medalist with Tri-Village’s Luke Wheeler, who also carded a 39 for the match.

Senior Isaac Plankenhorn was second behind Petitt, shooting a 41 on the day.

Junior Chris Brubaker had a very good match also, carding a personal best for the season of 47.

The Blazers are continuing to work on improving their consistency, as well as their course management skills as the season winds down, according to coach Kurt Bachman.

“I have seen significant improvement in our overall play and decision making in our recent matches,” Bachman said. “We are focusing on getting the players ready for the upcoming CCC tournament, as well as the OHSAA state tournament at the end of the month. Our seniors realize that this is their last opportunity, as a team, to create a legacy for themselves and have responded to this very positively.”
