CAMDEN —The Preble Shawnee volleyball team is now 6-6 overall after a busy week which ended with a win and two losses.

Shawnee hosted Northridge on Thursday, Sept. 15, and won 25-7 , 25-6 , 25-2.

Elise Walker had 10 kills. Savannah Lynch had 14 assists. Miranda Chaney had four aces and 18 service points and Kassy Wilson had five kills.

The team hosted Bellbrook on Monday, Sept. 12, losing 25-12, 26-24, and 25-9.

“We were not ready to play at all in the first set,” said PS coach Kristy Cottingim. “On the second set, we came out ready to play. We took a lead 11-7 and kept the lead until we lost one of our middles, Kaylie Campbell at point 21, to a concussion. The girls got a little rattled and we let Bellbrook come back to beat us 26-24.”

“I had to put the girls into a completely new rotation and we just couldn’t settle our nerves,” Cottingim said. “Despite losing the game, the girls showed they can play with really good teams. But we are still struggling with consistency and injuries have plagued us.”

Walker had six kills and six digs in the match. Brianna Wells had 12 digs. Carol Cappel and Chaney each had digs as well.

The Lady Arrows traveled to Waynesville on Tuesday, Sept. 13, and lost in three sets, 25-12, 25-19 and 25-23

“I was worried how we would fair coming off the loss to Bellbrook and having to modify our rotation without Kaylie,” said Cottingim. “We again started slowly and ended up losing the first set.”

“We kept working in the second set and did a better job, but lost that one,” Cottingim said. “In the third set, we were getting used to our new line up. We took the lead early but lost it on a string of aces from Waynesville and they went up 9-14. We battled back and took the lead 19-18.”

But Waynesville did not give up, Cottingim said. “They came back and beat us 25-23.”

Walker registered 16 kills and 11 digs. Chaney logged in 15 serves and nine digs. Lynch had nine digs.

The Lady Arrows are 4-2 in the Southwestern Buckeye League. They were scheduled to host Carlisle on Monday, Sept. 19.
