NEW PARIS — The National Trail girls soccer team was defeated 4-0 on Thursday, Sept. 22, by the visiting Bethel Bees.

The Lady Blazers held the Bees to one goal in the first half. In the second half, the Blazers fell further behind, with Bethel scoring two goals and one penalty shot to complete the shutout.

Rachel Ray had two shots on goal, and Katie Buehner had one shot on goal for the night. Ruth Wellman had one defensive save for the evening and goalkeeper Sophie McCloskey had 12 saves for the game.

“The girls worked hard tonight and I am proud of them for giving it their all,” said Trail coach Lisa McClosky. “This was their second game in two days and that caught up with them in the second half. We also need to hone some basic skills and we will continue to work on those as we move forward.”

NT will play on Thursday, Sept. 29, at Twin Valley South.
