BROOKVILLE —Eaton’s volleyball team ran its winning streak to four with a pair of wins last week.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Lady Eagles swept the Brookville Lady Blue Devils 25-18, 25-15, 25-17, at Brookville.

Sophomore Maley Tinstman had 24 assists for Eaton. Senior Stacia Weathington led the attack with 11 kills, while sophomore Becca Mowen had eight kills, 14 digs, and four aces.

Sophomore Annika Gels led defensively with 14 digs, while junior Ariel Richardson made 11 digs.

The match between Eaton and Greenville turned out to be a hard-fought game on Saturday, Oct. 1, and the Eagles persevered with a win 24-26, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21, 15-6.

Senior setter Emma McKinney led the Lady Eagles with 38 assists. Weathington recorded 13 kills, Mowen chipped in with 10 kills and 26 digs, Tinstman made 20 digs and four aces, and Richardson had nine kills and 32 digs.

“Good to get a win on a Saturday,” said Eaton coach Parker Fields. “We played uptight all day, but fought really hard when the game was on the line. It shows a lot about the heart in these kids when they fight back from being down two sets to win a match twice in one week. We played all day with a concept not to lose. We need to be more aggressive at the net and play to win.

“We still need to improve our defense and court coverage, and giving our setter a 3-point pass, so we can stay in system. But good heart today, and coming away with a win was really good for the kids,” Fields added.

Eaton’s record currently stands at 12-6 overall, and 6-3 in the Southwestern Buckeye League. Their next match was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 4 against Talawanda. They will host Valley View on Thursday for Senior Night.
