CAMDEN — On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Preble Shawnee boys soccer team played Xenia Christian to a 1-1 tie in a non-conference game.

Shawnee had 12 shots on goal for the night against the Legacy’s three. Shots were taken by Cody Clevenger, Cameron Neal, John Williams, Kage Worley, Tyler Blankenship and Logan Carter.

Xenia Christian scored midway through the first half, to take the lead at 1-0.

But, 19 minutes into the second half, senior captain Dwight Wilt scored for the home team with Cody Clevenger picking up the assist. Unfortunately, no more goals were scored the rest of the game, leaving the final score 1-1.

Goalie Austin Fields had two saves for the Arrows.

“We overwhelmed the other team on shots, had four times as many chances to score, but just couldn’t get them in the goal,” said PS coach Jeff Clevenger. “We played well and kept the ball on their half of the field most of the game. Our goalie hardly saw any action, but we just couldn’t make the shots. Feels like we really should have been able to win tonight, but we are setting our sites on our three final games next week that are all league games.”

Preble Shawnee holds an overall record of 5-7-1. Their final two games of the regular season were scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 11 and 13, against Madison and at Milton-Union respectively.
